JL 50 is a short series which explain the concept of Time Travel in a very simple way

First of all I want to start by saying that the Cast of JL 50 consisting of Abhay Deol, Pankaj Kapur, Piyush Mishra, Rajesh Sharma and Ritika Anand have all done a wonderful job in the series and it was quite refreshing to see Abhay Deol, Piyush Mishra and Pankaj Kapur in this series after a long time. They have not been active so much in the films and series lately. I especially love Abhay Deol , he has a quite a tender way of acting.

So the Plot of the Film was quite simple but interesting, I personally feel that the series was too short and should have given more context and should have been a movie rather than a 4 part episodic series which makes it seem like an incomplete script. I felt that the director was skipping a lot of key information and was going too fast with the script. But where the series shines is in the simplicity as in explaining the concept of Time Travel based on the "Theory of Relativity" by Einstein, which is actually not an easy task as it is for the general audience and not physicists. So the Director "Shailender Vyas" has done a wonderful job in that aspect. Not as complex as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar.

Of course I won't tell you the plot but the only thing which will make you want to watch this series is the interesting start of how a Plane which flew 35 years ago from Kolkata crashed in the current time, I liked the contradictions shown in the Film that it can also be staged for a purpose instead of a Time Travel. Also there are some emotional moments in the film which was quite good, it did add to the experience and relate to the characters intimately. So overall it was a good watch and I totally recommend it . You can Binge watch it under 3 hours which is good, The director didn't waste time in showing scenes that don't directly contribute to the Plot itself, which generally distracts the viewer makes it boring but you will find not losing interest in this series.

JL 50 is Now Streaming on Sony LIV

So in the end I would like to say that I am glad that a series like this based on Time Travel has been made as in India we are not making many films based on science. Which actually helps in creating curiosity and awareness of scientific theories and concept , even kids will enjoy this series. So you should definately consider this series for the weekend binge.

Cheers !
